Hi Peeps!

Someone on TF has posted that they experienced some weird spirit happenings at their house in Normandy this Hallowe'en.  Unfortunately she didn't give any details but it got my curiosity up and I wondered if anyone out there in our community has had a weird or ghostly experience in their house?

My main experience isn't really ghostly but just weird.  When we bought our house in 2000 it was separated into two and we made a doorway to turn it into one house.  I always felt happy and comfortable in the older side of the house but the newer side, which had been renovated only about 20 years before always made me feel unhappy and unsafe whereas the older side of the house, which had been around since the 1600s, always had a lovely feel to it.  As the years have gone by the weird atmosphere has diminished in the "West Wing" and now it has a lovely, happy feeling.

When we had had the house for several years a man turned up looking for someone who used to rent the "West Wing".  He referred to him as "ordure" and said that he had been responsible for putting his own son into prison and that he owed the man several thousand euros and that he was renowned for being a nasty piece of work.  I believe now that the house was carrying the atmosphere laid down by a living soul (but I suppose he could have died after leaving the house - who knows?).  We were robbed just after buying the property and I think it is likely the "ordure" was responsible.  He also left a very beautiful grey cat behind who was very affectionate but also incredibly aggressive at the same time - a mixed up cat - so he'd ruined the cat's liife too!

The only weird experience I have had in the happy East Wing is being woken up in the middle of the night by what sounded like a massive heavy door fall down in the loft above my head.  I was there with only my young son who woke up terrified but I reassured him it was the wind (I was pretty scared too!).  The next time I had an opportunity to go into the loft I had a look for the door that had fallen over and was surprised to see that the loft was completely empty!!

The only other terrifying thing was when I was staying in the house with just my 8 year old son, I was in the bath at about 10 o'clock at night and I heard what sounded like a door bell ringing (but we don't have a doorbell).  The house is completely isolated - we have no neighbours - and this happened just after we had discovered the burglary so I was a little concerned to say the least (you know that feeling when you can only hear your heart beating and it seems like it will burst through your chest?).    I did however have our dog with us at the time so I called him as loud as I could as he was on the other side of the house.  I heard him rush along and up the stairs and as he wasn't barking or upset I hoped that all would be OK and it turned out to be.  Later on I heard the same noise in the daytime and it turned out to be an old telephone bell which must have been getting some strange impulse from the old phone line/electricity even though it wasn't part of our new telephone arrangement.

Now we have had the house 9 years the atmosphere has completely changed and it is very happy.  It smells happy too! Judie always used to mention it when she came.  It is a little bit like incense mixed with wood oils.

Please share your weird and/or ghostly experiences here!

When we first bought our house, we used the room that is now our sitting room as a bedroom. One night, Richard said that he heard me walk through from the kitchen and on, through the sitting room, out to the utility room. He wondered what I was doing, then realised that I was actually by his side, fast asleep. Never one to suffer in silence, he then shook me awake, to tell me what had just happened. I told him he must have been dreaming, thanked him for waking me, and rolled over.

A few days later, our neighbour told us that the previous owner had died, probably on the night of Richard's dream. I still don't really know what to think, as I'm not a great believer in spirit life, whereas I do know that Richard is quite dozy when just woken! I favour coincidence, he believes we had a visitation, but we'll never know, will we?
